| Our work
CHI has many activities. These are based on three pillars: 1. Building child helplines in countries where there are none 2. Providing services to the child helpline members 3. Advocacy at all levels of government Building child helplines where there are none Since its foundation, one of CHI's main objectives has been the establishment of a global member network of child helplines. Since 2003, our network has grown from 47 members to 107 full members and CHI is working with organisations in a further 26 countries to establish a child helpline (November 2009). This tremendous growth has been achieved by two means. First, existing child helplines have joined CHI. Second, CHI has assisted in the foundation of child helplines in countries where there was none. Since its foundation, CHI has assisted in the foundation of thirty child helplines (November 2009). Establishing new child helplines in countries where there is none remains one of the main activities of the network. More detailed information about the process can be found on this page. Providing services to child helpline members Child helplines that are a member of CHI are part of a global movement of child helplines, a family of like-minded organisations that come together to make sure that every child is heard. CHI provides several services to its members. These services consist of facilitating peer exchanges, providing theme-based training courses, organising regional and international consultations, producing manuals and guidelines, and facilitating knowledge exchange in general. To learn more about these services, please go to this page. Advocating at all levels of governance CHI and the child helplines advocate on behalf of children at all levels of governance. CHI advocates at the international and regional level to make sure that children's voices are heard. CHI does this through partnerships with other organisations, advocating to governmental organisations and businesses, and participating at conferences. At the national and sub-national level, individual child helplines, sometimes with CHI assistance, advocate to governmental agencies, police, judiciaries, child protection agencies and other national organisations to make sure that violations of childrens’ rights are addressed and that children are protected.
